CARMEN at Google and on YouTube!
Paul Watson gave an invited talk on CARMEN at the "Google Scalability Conference" in Seattle in July. He focussed on the design of the CARMEN CAIRN, describing how it is a generic "Science Cloud", populated with neuroscience data and services.
Cloud Computing is the name now given to the design of systems like the CARMEN CAIRN in which data and is stored and processed over the internet in massive daatcentres, rather than on the user's local machines; there's now huge interest in this area in industry, with all the big companies from Microsoft to Google announcing their intention to move into this field. As a result, the talk generated lots of interest, and the YouTube video has been watched over a 1000 times.
